Is that a UK/Euro spec (i.e. Thatcham Cat 1 compliant) car or US/Import spec? On my Euro spec 2007 C6, the renewal premium from Admiral in 2019 was £257. That's no accidents, convictions. "mature" driver only, 4k miles pa, low risk address, SDP only, garaged and with 7 years NCB on the car. Personally, I look for a Defaqto 5* rated company/policy when looking for insurance. One of the members with a C6 on a Flux policy had an accident a few years back, and was "unhappy" to find out that the policy did not cover the cost of shipping or duty on the repair parts coming in from the States.

thats odd as my friend had his C5 z06 insured with admiral. I hope when you the paperwork came with Admiral or any other insurance you check the information on it?

Insured my C3 with Admiral for a few years on a multicar policy, but when I changed to a C2 they couldn't find the model on their database so said they couldn't offer a quote. Ended up doing it through club magazine advertiser Abbeyfields. Got me a decent agreed value price of £129.24 with 1500 miles with KGM.

I would never go to a main stream insurer for a classic car quote , they either don`t have a clue or quote obscene high figures ! I when I first got my Marcos V8 I fished about the main stream and classic specialists . One main stream big name quoted £3000 and that was 19 years ago !!!!

Also worth noting the difference in policy benefits - generally classic policies are built around the classic owner. I can't speak for them all but having the option to use your chosen repairer rather than the insurers approved one is always seen as a huge plus by clients, plus options for agreed value over market value etc :)

And like you say, classic premiums are near enough always delightfully low :D

Not to mention guarenteed insurance valuations in the event of a right off claim rather than being offered £300 take it or leave it . ☹️

I had something similar with Admiral a few years ago when I had a Jeep Wrangler. They contacted me a few weeks into the policy insisting that because I told them it was a 2.5, instead of a 4.0, they were increasing the premium. I asked for a copy of the recorded phone call which would prove they had looked up the vehicle by its number plate and they ignored me. I contacted one of their directors who also ignored me. I will never use Admiral again.

Insurance renewal due and probably will go again with Peter Taylor. My slight concern though which I have mentioned to them before is there is no indication of the agreed value on the paperwork. Just an AV code meaning agreed value. Would be nice to see the actual value in print!

I use Classicline for my cars and added my C5 Corvette with agreed value when I got it back in September. They may not be the cheapest, but I know they pay out if the worst happens, plus they answer their phones quicker than most.

My C5 insurance is due this month. Out of curiosity I put the details into GoCompare with some surprising results, eg Aviva at £175 inc legal protection. Anyway I'll be staying with Brentacre as they've reduced their quote for the 2nd year running without even asking, prompt response to any query, solid cover at a price that nobody has been able to touch. Customer loyalty can work!
One word of caution that some overlook when seeking quotes - legal protection only covers one policy, you need to add it to other vehicles you own as well as home insurance.

I have used Classic Line for the past 5 years , find them competative on value and get an agreed valuation certificate with no hassles . (y)
