Not wanting to derail the thread here, but I'm having a hard time getting quotes for my/soon to be mine C4. None of the mainstream insurers or comparison sites recognise the reg, and when I try to manually enter the details they all - without exception - list pretty much every Corvette year except the C4 generation.

I've had one quote so far which I think is on the high side for my limited use/mileage so I'm trying to shop around without much luck - any C4 owners on here with recommendations? And anyone know why the C4 is insurer kryptonite?

Phone someone! Don’t do it online! Your car is an individual - spend an hour (sometimes it takes that long) and talk it through.... you tell them and they listen and understand. We have policies with Admiral, Footman James and Cherished. We talk for hours, but they know the cars when we talk!

Have you tried Brentacre they know the cars but are not on a comparison site (not that i know of), i had the same sort of response that you had with my C7 Z06 ,most would list it as a C7 Stingray (even from reg) which has 200bhp less and in the event of an accident the insurers would have jumped on that. When i phoned Brentacre they knew straight away what i was talking about and came up with a good quote job done.

Another vote here for Brentacre.
Great cover at a great price for my C5, they're happy to help club members so I'd be surprised if they can't sort you out.

Try the insurers in Vette News. They advertise with us because they insure Corvettes....................

Rich is right (of course). On a C4, you are looking for a specialist/classic car type policy, including probably an agreed value on the car. I would give Carlie@A-Plan and Christian at ClassicLine (see above) a try also. Had my C4 insured for many years with Footman James (Insurer - Ageas Specialist Insurance). Last premium in 2018, including unlimited mileage (which I didn't want but got anyway) was £233.

There is specialist cover available for these cars though so just a case of spending a few minutes on the phone. I work at Classicline if you'd like to give us a call on 01455 639000. You'll get a club discount as well as free legal and breakdown cover, limited mileage, agreed value options and a facility to add your every day cars too!

Online is only really good for standard cars - you've got a specialist vehicle here so you will be much more successful quoting with a specialist insurer - happy to take a look for you at A-Plan Specialist in Thatcham if you give us a call when you're free :) 01635 874646
Again we have options for agreed value, limited mileage policies, breakdown cover, track day cover as well as your CCCUK club discount (y)

Just got a quote from Liverpool Victoria who now insure 2014-19 C7s (Quote for 2014 manual coupe C7) £269 with 9 years NCD and £470 with no NCD. That was for less than 4000 miles per year with driver 50 plus yrs, clean licence. Pretty decent prices......... especially when compared to the annual road tax.

Interestingly, the quote of £470 became £520 when I tried a comparison site, and that's with the same insurance company.

Bought new insurance today after Admiral decided to increase my prices by 42% average with my multicar and specifically 60% on the C5. Tried Aviva, Direct Line and Adrian Flux. On a spec of 4k miles, £150 voluntary excess and protected NCB Aviva won out with £262 for the C5 (with £11/12 additional to increase mileage to 8k miles) and which would have been 10% cheaper had I taken out a multicar. Adrian Flux were just nudged into 2nd place and had some interesting optional policies which might attract.

Hi.
Sorry we couldn't help with a more competitive premium however thanks for giving us a try. Much appreciated.

Dan.
