I think they are a little too tall. They do look mean tho
Quite a few faux L88 hoods have been around over the years, and yes some are too tall - longer ones are available for later non-windscreen wiper flap cars. Irrespective of the additional height I still had to use a shallower air filter element!

A dropped filter base usually lets you use the taller filter

I carefully fitted the oem trim and 427 numbers on to the repro hood. Not sure if stock L88 hood features any bright trim. Without the stock hoods centre divider you'll notice the chrome trim pieces don't quite join in the centre.

Bought a fake one from Ripspeed in 1977 and fitted it to a friends capri. Looked pretty good once finished.

Talking hood scoops, I’ve always loved the “shaker” hood scoop. Poking through the hood. Most common is the Pontiac trans am’s. The 1969 and 70 Ford equivalents were pretty good. The iconic big fat Chrysler corporations version was wicked.IMG_1781.jpegIMG_1779.jpegIMG_1780.jpeg

Nice, but not for me. Never liked blowers or bug catchers poking through the hood. Would also be a bugger to keep looking good as it’s very exposed to the elements. Once it’s weathered, it will look terrible.
But it sure looks fearsome.

I think it was Ford who first had the “shaker” through the hood on the 1969 mustangs. 302 Boss & 428 cobra jet. Both of the other “big three” manufacturers obviously liked the idea as the new for 1970 Trans Am had it and Chrysler’s Plymouth and Dodge divisions had it for their Cuda’s.and challengers.
The Chrysler one to me looked the “meanest/ menacing.
