Painting my C4

The heat has slowed my progress but I have done a bit each night.
Wet sanded the bonnet with1200 grit to remove the orange peel.

Then 2000 grit and then 3000 grit to successively remove the sanding marks.
Once that was done I used Farécla G360 compound on a duel action polisher to bring back the shine.

It's by no means perfect and I can still see some sanding marks if I look carefully but I am not chasing perfection.
I am going to respray the small section between the bonnet and black trim as I am not happy with the finish.
I will probably do a bit more sanding or buffing at a later date as I just want to get paint on the car before the weather changes.

Today's project was the doors and nose.
Both door cards were removed to access wing mirror bolts, wing mirrors removed.
Sanded down with 600 grit and panel wiped.
Masked up, I did want to remove the door handles but the glass has to come out for that which would add hours to the job so I carefully masked them up.
Same as the side window rubbers I was going to replace them even though they are fairly new, but RockAuto wanted £122 shipping on a £30 part !!
By undoing the side window felts I could push the window in enough to hold them inward of there normal positions so I won't get a hard spray line.

"Spray booth" erected and electro static masking film on the car.
Panel wiped again and 2 coats of paint applied.

All panels that could be removed were painted inside.IMG_20260815_171849.jpg

Top of doors wet sanded with 2000 grit and mirrors refitted.
After struggling to get the mirrors off with a spanner lowered down between the window rubbers as I watched on YouTube I realised you can get a 1/4" socket up through the two access holes 🤦🏻‍♂️😂IMG_20260816_120400.jpg

Car reassembled ready for club night on Wednesday.
Still got the bottom of the doors and front section to sand and then compound.

It’s looking good. I can empathise with the eye roll you must have done when you realised those bolts were accessed from below with a ratchet. Once you know though, you know.
