Tyres

Unfortunately on starting my C8 this afternoon I was greeted with a tyre pressure message. One of my rears had only 11 psi. After jacking up the car and removing the wheel I found a nail virtually in the centre of the tyre.

At the time I hadn't realised that they were runflats. My old C5 had runflats and they were clearly marked. The current C8 is only marked with ZP (zero pressure).

Apparently runflats can be repaired.........but most tyre outlets appear to decline to repair. After an initial search (I only found the puncture this afternoon) I am struggling to find anywhere with an identical tyre for sale (I wouldn't want a similar one).

Has anyone got any suggestions as to where I can buy a replacement. Does anyone know of a reputable repairer? I am happy to travel if required. Incidentally, I live in Coventry.

All help with finding a solution is much appreciated.

My experience with run-flat tyres is that the tyre fitters rarely want to repair a puncture where the tyre has been driver on for even minimal mileage. Event though they are supposed to be safe to drive-on for a specific mileage - I'm guessing for most tyre fitters would prefer it to be close to zero (or zero itself.....as is effectively your scenario) perhaps difficult for the driver to prove.
What is the brand, model and size of your punctured tyre?

Yes, you are quite right. When I last drove the Corvette a week ago I had no tyre pressure warnings at all. So it most likely happened very close to home.
The tyres are obviously original, only 890 miles actually.

Anyone who profits for tire repairs will push the people into buying new costly new tires

As long as the leak is not on the sidewall most tire makers claim tire can be plugged
Kits like this are $10 on Amazon and all that is needed is these lugs and a screwdriver while
wheel is still on the vehicle

I have used these and work just fine with no leaks

Thanks, all suggestions appreciated.
Unfortunately, from what I believe, the 'plugs' are only legal as a temporary repair here in the UK. Effectively to enable you to get to a garage for a replacement tyre or 'permanent' repair.

Daventry, that would be ideal. Thanks for this. Fingers crossed.

Thanks to all for your help, it is so appreciated. Thanks especially to petchy56. Fortunately Grange Corvette were able to supply a brand new replacement identical to original spec. I had just placed the order and paid for it when the reply from petchy56 came through. So I am pleased, but a little disappointed in missing out on the offer from petchy56.
In the meantime I had contacted Michelin UK and they came back with 'none available in the UK' so I was getting a little nervous that the Vette would be off the road for potentially some considerable time.
I had booked into 'Stars and Stripes' this weekend for the first time in 6 years, so that too is disappointing.
Never mind, just pleased to get it sorted. Thanks again all.
