Classic Corvette Club - Corvette Nationals 2023

The CCCUK is pleased to announce that we are returning to Sywell Aerodrome again next year and the date is the weekend of 15th & 16th of July.

Sywell Aerodrome

We have block booked the hotel for the weekend so please DO NOT contact Sywell or the Aviator hotel as they will not take any accommodation bookings yet. When we have agreed the date that bedrooms can be booked, notifications will go out on member mojo, CCCUK website and the CCCUK FB page to give all members an equal chance to reserve their accommodation.

A little update.

Bernie's Racing will be displaying three Corvette race cars including C1, C2 & C3.

I have a meeting at Sywell next week to finalise the gala dinner menu, costs and booking process so I'm hoping to release that info soon so members can make their choices and bookings.

There's more going on but it's too early just yet to announce it but watch this space!

A nice trip out to Sywell today to meet with the new events manager and fine tune a few details. High on the list to finish is the menu selection and prices and I'm hoping to distribute that in the not too distant future.

I have to say that the food last year was excellent, exceeding expectations.

Indeed Rich including the full English breakfast which 3 days on the trot was a bit much. I don't think we'll deviate too far from last years dinner menu as I heard few if not no negatives. Hope you're doing ok?

Small thing, but including coffee would be nice.
Have just emerged from radiotherapy. Will know more next week.

Is there any fancy dress theme for the gala dinner, it was 20’s last year? I wondered as the Vette is celebrating 70 years this year maybe a 50’s theme might give Rob and Rich chance to break out the brothel creepers…..

Yes Rock n Roll. I mentioned it somewhere..

The band following the gala dinner are very rock n roll

Seriously? I didn’t read anything in the mag

From one of my Vette News Nationals updates:

Those that attended the Nationals last year and enjoyed the fabulous Lola Lamour will be glad to see that she’s back this year but as part of the band Built for Speed who have a Rock & Roll influence which we thought tied in quite nicely with the 50’s music scene and of course the start of our Corvette journey. Sywell have agreed to our suggestion that the Cirrus function room is too small for a band and have agreed that we can have the band set up on the terrace outside.

Dear CCCUK club members attending the Corvette Nationals and partaking in the Gala Dinner on Saturday 15th July in the Cirrus Dining Room.

We have now agreed the following starter & Main menu options (attached) and desserts listed below. Please note, the starter main combination is a fixed cost whether you have a starter or not!

Additional 3rd course of a dessert adds £7.50
  1. Homemade cheesecake Vanilla with mixed berry compote, lemon with raspberry sauce, strawberry, or caramel
  2. Sticky toffee pudding served with butterscotch sauce.
  3. Warm chocolate brownie served with vanilla ice cream.
  4. Apple and cinnamon crumble served with warm custard.
  5. Lemon tart served with mixed berries and Chantilly cream.
Due to staffing shortages, Sywell are not able to take your orders or payments direct so the process this year will be for members to send their selections to me at nationals@corvetteclub.org.uk with ‘Gala Dinner’ in the subject line

For those that have returned their selection they will then be sent the clubs bank details so you can make your payment to the club. The club will then pay Sywell direct.

Due to this process, I will have to impose a cut-off date to receive members selections so the rest of the process can be completed. Last return date: 31st May 2023

There are 80 places on a first come first served only basis.

Make sure to list any special dietary requirements on your menu selection return

Please send your selections as per the example below by email only not on CCCUK Face Book or the Website:

Person 1 Starter choice: Soup (7 choices)
Person 2 Starter choice: N/A
Person 1 Main choice: Chicken
Person 2 Main choice: N/A
Person 1 Dessert choice: Ice cream
Person 2 Dessert choice: N/A

Total cost £38.50

Special dietary requirements:

So, I don’t get inundated with questions, I have listed the following:

What if I want a main and dessert only – the starter and main are a fixed cost whether you have a starter or not.
Last year was £20.00 for a starter and main – we’ve all seen our grocery bills rocket and theirs are no different.
Has the club negotiated the dinner cost – yes, it was slightly higher.
There will be a table seating plan to reflect everyone’s food choices. Requests cannot be taken but all efforts will be made to group members by region.
Only pre-booked members will be allowed into the dining room. Last year 4 additional meals were served over the 78 pre-booked and paid for meals.

What I will say is the food last year was excellent quality and generous in quantity.

Best regards,

A bit of a rip off charging for a starter weather you have one or not . Not an issue for me as I always have a starter when dining out . It might be a bit off putting for others though . There is no additional work involved for their " staff shortages " by not preparring and serving starters . They have created a win win situation by charging for something you are not getting . Fraudulent practice springs to mind !
