Drag racing anyone?

FYI
There's a purpose built drag track just outside York, it's just been refurbished by volunteers after threat of closure.
It's called Melbourne raceway and seems to hold lots of RWUB type events.
just saying.

I would post a pair of fake t*ts on here as my answer, however the moderators would not like it.
However i never thought in my lifetime a car could beat a Superbike on acceleration
It wont be long before joe blogs in a Tesla will be lapping Silverstone quicker than Lewis 'zero charisma' Hamilton.

All that Tesla racing will achieve is the demise of competetive drag racing - all drag racers will be Tesla or generic equivalments and hey, ho within a few years the sport will be like todays Formula 1 racing............B-O-R-I-N-G..................................................

Lewis’ car is built to a set of regulations designed to make it slower than it would be otherwise. Tesla party piece acceleration is only as quick as it is because it’s ungoverned.

A modern GTE Corvette has a lower top speed is around 200bhp down on its 70s equivalent. Teslas will also be governed in the same way.

L88 Vettes with slightly de-tuned engines and with front/rear spoilers were timed on Le Mans Mulsanne Straight ar speeds in excess of 200 mph. One car was timed at 212 mph. Impressive for 'only' perhaps 550 hp.

Party piece it may be, but you have to admire the way anybody can plant a tesla and not end up in a ditch, you have to give credit to the engineers who set up the rear suspension/traction control to enable to get the grip on launch to 60 in 2 seconds (ish)

The quick Tesla’s are 4wd.

Am i really going to take the bait?.. yes.. why not..

Strange that they won the exhibition class at Pikes Peak in 2020 and 2021.

That’s a race car though and not a real competition class.

Ive got nothing against them. I wouldn’t have one in the same way as I wouldn’t have an Audi RS6. Fast in a straight line but just dull. Ford Mach E on the other hand does appeal.

Shame the Porsche Turbo S jumped it as that’d have been interesting, both 4wd and with all the electronic trickery.

Just noticed this thread is in the CCCUK Organised events section..
i think it musta got slightly off the original intended subject somewhere along the line.
Oh, i remember.. it started off, Question: Do you wanna go drag racing..
Answer: No, it would take my car all day to get to the other end.

I completely 110% agree with you (y) There is a few interesting cars in there though but DONT watch it.. theyre all racing against an electric car (even worse than a Porsche as far as youre concerned).

If electric cars start hitting the drag strips hard then I think the sport will nose dive as a spectator sport. Too many motor sports are being over run with tech and not enough man against man racing. I USED to love F1 now I could not care less.
