Electric cars will be the Savior of classic V8's

I read an article recently that the UK government is going to be doing a trial with electric lorries that get charged up / powered by overhead lines fitted above a chosen motorway for a section of the trial. I forget the details now, but it was interesting thing about powering the lorries via the overhead wires on the motorway. That way it keeps the weight of the lorry down as less batteries, and thus more goods can be taken on the lorry (as someone else also pointed out a few pages back).

Theyre already experimenting with it in Germany...

What happened to the last Ice age - it melted - why, because of Global warming - Guess which vehicle cave man was driving?, or which incorrect Light Bulb he was using - Kill all C02 and we are all dead, we will have no vegetables, no meat and no fish - we will not be able to grow anything from which we can get food

Global Warming and Cooling has been going on since the earth was formed, no argument.
Nobody wants to remove all CO2 but if an imbalance of it threatens our existence on earth then maybe we can try to do something about it.
If not, we will become a less successful than the Dino's former inhabitant of planet earth which will quite happily continue without us.
Planet Earth doesnt need us.

... and even if you believe that Global Warming is a hoax, localised pollution of the air we breath is an issue.
i spent a little over three years working as a Motorcycle Courier, 60% of our jobs took us into central London where we would wait for a 'return' job. When ever i was in London for a while i would get home and blow all the black snot out of my nose. That cant be good for you.

Sounds like a modern 'take' on the old trolley bus network that London and other major UK cities used successfully up to the late 50's. I'm old enough to remember these as a kid, similar size to the much loved Routemaster bus but with double rear wheels.
Many of us are old enough to remember trolley buses and maybe even trams . The last old tram ran in Birmingham in July 1953 and I knew a the lady who was a `clippie` on the last tram in service . Isn`t it amazing how all these modes of transport were canned but are now coming back again . Just goes to show "there is nothing new under the sun " !

Try working on steam locos regularly for 30 odd years and you will know what black snot is really all about ! Coal dust , ash and soot got in nearly all other orifice too ! 🤣
Never did me any harm ! cough , cough , wheeze , cough ! 🤧

The largest exponent of C02 is the Sea, the second is the Volcanoes of this World, after the last World War there was a mini Industrial Revolution in the States with Factories starting up and others going full pelt, polluting the atmosphere with Carbons - all to a negative effect of the Temperature in those specific areas

Global Warming is cyclical and there is no honest proof that C02 causes Global Warming, or was it C02 that caused the Ice ages to melt?

I am all for saving the Earth and reducing Pollution, but doing it Honestly - not the Government pandering to the green votes and the benefit of Taxation

Government dictat: Ban the incandescent bulb and use Low Energy Fluorescent - More energy is expended in the manufacture of such, than the item could ever save, production of which produces hazardous waste - if you brake one on the floor you should get a Hazard Disposal Team in to clear up (like in the US) plus they forget to warn you on the packet that the item contains Mercury - That is dishonest

Government dictat: Ban Petrol use Diesel and Tax Petrol more - everyone knew at the time that Diesel engines produce less C02 than Petrol engines, but the waste gases were far more harmful and toxic to humanes than Petrol engines but they still went ahead - That is dishonest

All those that tend to road vehicles for what ever reason, be it break down or accident (Mechanic, Fireman, Ambulance crew) are being taught at this very moment how to approach and deal with Break downs and RTAs in electrical vehicles due to the serious electrical harm and danger that they can render

It was an ignorant Labour government who initially promoted diesel powered vehicles as being the way forward with their improved fuel economy being one being one of the supposed benefits and reduced emissions being the other benefit - I say ignorant being it bas the 'wrong' type of emission. Result - millions of diesel powered vehicles emitting particulates and creating major respiratory issues in congested and city areas.

The problem with our political system is that the incumbent party in power will look to undo everything the previous part in power has put in place (if another political party) - if they make any important decisions that could potentially have longer term issues will be carefully thought out - they will then delay them possibly (if detrimental to the country) and they stand a chance of being re-elected. If they beleive there is a limited chance of being re-elected they may make the changes and let the 'new' party tale take 'the wrap' for them. Of course there is always the scenario where a party will deliberately 'allow' an alternative party to take control for the next 4 years, let the 'new' party fall out of favour so they can effectively 're-group' and get a 'landslide' victory.
Hence why the UK doesn't have a proper 'joined-up' energy plan for our country. Old coal fired power stations are closing down, nucelar power stations are being de-commissioned en-mass and for the last 20-30 years no political party has had the balls to do something about. About a close as get get is some form of half-ass'd deal with the Chinese (which has 'stalled') - the the meantime all of the UK's facility companies have sold out to overseas companies (including the Chinese) - the UK actually owns so very little of what we actually have........don't get me started!

May be, just may be we should be proud of our Piston Driven Machines that are getting better and better at reducing emissions

If any one here can remember the 1860s the carriages in those days were Horse Driven, the roads were full of Horse Manure and Urine producing copious amounts of Methane and Amonia gases, people walked in a slurry of "Mud" and the stench was abysmal

But just prior in the 1600s to 1800s Britain was locked in a Northern Hemisphere little Ice Age, the Thames would freeze up for a couple of months at a time, but that happened no longer, must be due to the Gases that in that time would of course have caused the Global warming the Methane and the Amonia like the C02 does now

So did the pundits at that time ban the Methane and Amonia Gases ? - Charles would no longer need a brick in the cistern to save the World

Save our World

There is proof,
My 1974 Corvette with less than 200 HP back in 1975 I would be lucky to get 10 MPG

My 1999 C5 with stroked LS1 has 500 HP and even with a 3.73 rear end gear ratio I can get 30 MPG and that is
when it had all that smog crap on it
There is a difference though when I run the 200 HP shot of NOS, on the track :)

As the population of London grew the Thames became a giant open sewer . As the freezing point of urine is lower than the the freezing point of water , not to mention all the other rotting unmentionables going in the river . Maybe that`s why it stopped freezing over !

One thing i read very recently which set alarm bells ringing in my head.
'They' (you know, 'them') reckon the Gulf Stream is weakening.
IF thats true (IF) then we have a problem in the UK.

There was another reason why the Thames stopped freezing over........bridges - the earlier bridges had multiple and extensive brickwork to support them. Later designs used far fewer support spreads which significantly increased river speeds and respective water volumes......this coupled with increases of winter temperatures helped stop Thames freezing over.......
