That black Callaway reminds me of Brian Neighbours car before he had the aerobody fitted. Looked real nice before, looked fantastic after. I believe it’s in Sweden now.

The pewter finished '72 is certainly a nice looking car - good price (as was Adrians red Vert) - just came across the French based '88 Callaway BK2 coupe on auction - bids don't look too steep so far......but with nearly 2 days to go who knows?
Looks like the Callaway didn't meet it's Reserve price? Now for sale at 34.5k Euros.

34K Euro's - is that a 'reasonable' price? - Callaway have always had a good reputation for supporting their earlier Corvettes. Following the death of Reeves Callaway his son has been running the company and certainly seems to be a 'chip of the block' of his father. Earlier this year on one of the FB forums I made complementary comment about Calloway vehicles and I was surprised to receive a private message from him, thanking me for my remarks. Question still remains however, here in the UK - who is still around who understands them (in the event of problems).

Callaway corvettes were always a rare item in the UK. Uniqueness also brings its own problems as to who can fix it when and if it goes wrong. I knew of only 4 cars.
I wanted one bad in the early 90’s after seeing Brian neighbours black one. Looked at John Lloyd’s one but being manual as most of them were and with the “what if” thoughts stopped me buying.

Made over 500 of them according to this (1987-91). And you could buy one in the US from your Vette dealer. They even had their own RPO Code #. I remember seeing the John Lloyd (met turquoise paint?) one a couple of times "back in the day" down at the American Car Centre in Kingston, when I was getting my C4 serviced.

Yep, the turquoise one. Both the Lloyd brothers bought them, not sure what colour David Lloyds one was. The chap who was selling it ( named Bob) was also the seller of the white 61 that was in another thread.
Stephen overrauff ( not sure of the correct spelling) of American Car centre liked Callaway’s , had a couple I think, but I never saw them..

I recall seeing a black Callaway Corvette at the American Car Centre when it was at Kingston many years ago. It had ultra low mileage and in nice shape but whilst the paint was glossy when looking at it more closely the surface oddly, was badly scratched all over the surface almost like like someone had taken a sheet of coarse sandpaper to the surface......bizarre!
Recall taking a passenger trip in the late Mustang George's silver '87/'88. It performed in a totally unstressed manner much like a big block.....but on steroids. George went from J28 M25 on A12 as far as Margaretting (with the roof off) hitting over 140 mph and still accelerating. Amazing also that suspension and braking were so well up to it with a great ride. The odd thing that amused me was the really strange 'soundtrack' when it was on boost - it sounded just an old world kettle on a gas hob with its boiling/bubbling sound just as it started whistling.

I think it was 1991 when Brian neighbour purchased the aerobody kit for his black coupe, cost was £10k.

Callaway all day over a ZR1.

Of course when we were still in the EU, that French car could have been imported into the UK without any duties payable.
As we are out of it now, we have to pay. But saying that 5% VAT is NOT that spiteful.
