Yes but panel wipe before initially sanding to remove and polish or wax so as not to sand it into the panel.

Sorry for the lack of updates but the sanding and polishing has stopped.
My C4 is poorly, went out for a drive in mid September and it broke down.
Lucky I wasn't far from home and was "uphill" so managed to coast and push it home.
After a lot of fault finding I found out that the injectors were permanently on and flooding the engine, it also put fuel into the oil.
After fully testing the fuel system and the ignition system I have traced the fault to the ECM.

I think I have traced the fault to the Mosfet (like an electric switch) that turns the injectors on and off so have a new one on order and will solder it into the board when it arrives, so fingers crossed.
Typically RockAuto won't send a ECM to the UK due to the unknown Russian steel content πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
Interesting fact is the C4 use's a batch fire system and all 8 injectors fire together, not individually or in banks of 4.

Good luck with it, Steve! I am certain you will get it sorted (y)

Good detective work there. Fingers crossed you get it fixed quickly.

And yes, Rock Auto and the unknown Russian steel thing is just getting old now.

Hi Steve - that 'batch' fire system seems really crude in concept compared with more modern systems - is there are value in looking at some of the current aftermarket injection systems (Edelbrock and FiTech?) that do partial MPI kits for use on earlier GM injected engines?

It would be nice but the budget doesn't allow such extravagant behaviour πŸ˜‚
