Thought I'd start a little thread as I'm bound to need some help over the coming months.
I decided earlier in the year to build myself another race car, I've currently got a sixties Cooper S that I've owned for 25 years. May come to regret it but I decided on a C3. I couldn't really find something suitable here at the time so I imported a project car from the States. Arrived last week, a little petrol down the carb and it started straight up and drove into the garage.
Just started getting it stripped, interior is mainly out now along with 2 mouse nests, a wasps nest and one dead rodent. Body mounts on the birdcage don't look too bad. Just have to wait and see what the top of the chassis is like when the body comes off.
I may have missed this buried in this extensive and interesting thread, but what are the racing plans?
Any particular championships, circuits etc?
Looking forward to seeing it.

Don’t know really. But if hillclimbing. Bit of racing. Maybe Spa 3 hours at some point.

And one exhaust kind of on. The template they give you to cut the bottom of the front wing is tosh, so had to recut it, now got dust everywhere
The side pipes where it fits under the sills and bolt to the chassis are a right palaver. Going to have to come up with something easier and quicker plus I dropped it on my face, so now look like Joseph Merrick. 2 hours badly spent!

....and your side pipes look nicely positioned to keep the tyres warm...
I thought that but all the cars seem to be like that in period.

It's easy, 2 big bolts under the column and a few that go through the firewall, disconnect the harmonica connector and rag joint, should drop right out

@Oneball I agree the mounting for the sidepipes to the sills is quite a hassle, on mine someone has cut rectangular slots in the frame to allow you to get a finger in there and hold the bolt in place, a real nightmare, best thing to do is get it lined up once and weld the mounting bolt in place, but depending on how tight a fit the pipes are this could make life even more difficult when removing them

Ta. Going to try putting the side pipe on first then the manifold. Might be easier.
