Still up hear in glorious North Wales and the Vette is tucked up at the body shop back home in Northampton having a bit of TLC whilst I am away . So I took took the hills again today for seven and a half mile hike high up in the Arenig Mountains to bag the summit of the highest peak , Arenig Fawr at 2, 802 ft which has been on my bucket list for ages . The poignant bit was standing alone on the wind swept and cloud capped summit to see the memorial to the USAF crew that all perished when their Flying Fortress hit the mountain on 4th August 1943 in bad weather . There is a photo of the crew and small peaces of wreckage decorating the memorial . A very moving experience I can tell you , they were so young and full of life . I did double take when I read the name Bowling from Kentucky . How weird if he had been from Bowling Green , Kentucky .
Once off the mountain and back to the Jeep where I had parked up on a single track tarmac road , the drive back down through the mountains to join the sweeping A 4212 and then the A470 with the sunshine casting moody shadows on the surrounding mountains and forests , wind
ow open and the Hemi V8 humming nicely accompanied by Good `ole Boy Jason Aldean `Country Rock ` on the CD player was pure joy .

Had another "Vette to the Vet" run recently (interesting fact - cameras lie. My Vette is actually very dusty dirty there as I was giving it a run to then clean it ready for the show mentioned below):
(bonus negative points to the first person to highlight that I parked so far away from the kerb you could fit a bus through there )
And also went to the Mid Devon Show (country show with classic cars and old farm tractors / steam engines too) - only remembered to take some photos at the end just s everyone was leaving:
Its also quite dusty dirty again here too - it had drizzled / light rain a little bit here and there throughout the day. So when the rain dried it left that dusty stuff on it.
Talked to a nice local chap with a E-Type at the show. He had it for a while now, but prior to that it had been left in a field for 20 odd years. He's restored it back to a nice running condition and said he's not bothered about any of its imperfections as its a car and made to be used. Aka has no interest in making it a trailer queen. It was a lovely E-Type though, sounded good. Also had 3 other classics too - 68 Jag Mark 2, Fiat 500 (original - which he loves taking to the Italian car days to amuse the other people that only turn up in Italian supercars), and a 77 (?) Vauxhall Viva (which must be a rare type as apparently he said there is only 10 or so of them left now). Nice chap, good to see people using their classics a lot.

I may have to sell my stingray because the price of the insurance caught up with me and was basically eating my bank account. Actually quite peed off because I work my ass off and seriously don't ask for much at all in return for working my life away (as we all do) and I can't even afford this hobby that makes me happy... Sick world, what a joke. Will probably have to wait until I'm 25 I think until the price will be heavily reduced? Not sure with inflation so high. I actually started a job as an optical assistant to build a career and earn more money to be able to afford this hobby. Not impressed, we will see. Sorry for the negative post.

Fronting is illegal if James is the main driver of the car .

In my experience, there's no age-related drop, per se – what they're looking for is experience and insurance history, among the many factors that are taken into account. I've had friends who haven't passed their test until 30, 35, 40, and they've all faced similarly high prices out of the box, for the first few years at least.
In my case, I had a classic as my first car at 17 but had it insured through a conventional policy, which accrued a no-claims bonus; it was £1,800 for the first year, but it dropped to £800 with one year's NCB, and then down to £500, etc. Averaging out the cost over those three years helped blunted the initial high price, for one thing.
When I subsequently got my first Corvette at 21, I then insured that using a specialist policy – which didn't accrue conventional NCB, nor could I use my accumulated NCB on it. However, the company did take those years into account, and I ended up paying some £500 again. And, no, when I reached 25, the price didn't magically drop, either. It hovered around that £500 mark for a long time and didn't really significantly until several years later, but that was more due to a change of postcode and insurers than anything else.
Perhaps it's worth pounding the phones again and seeing what options might be out there, or looking at a later Corvette? A C4 might prove cheaper to insure, I don't know...
Alas, that all said, there are many factors in play when it comes to insurance, so anyone else's experience might not be of any real help. But best of luck to you, in any case! I hope you can work something out. And keep at it, regardless; even if it takes time, you'll get what you want.

I forgot to post this but I thought it would be fun to put my brothers dominos sign on the stingray and it was so funny with the hat as well and people were so confused.

The dominos pizza in Clearwater used Mustang GT’s for the pizza delivery. I assume they get to the customer quicker that way

Been on a merry jape with 4 other BBNC region members to brave the searing heat at the Rushden Classic Car and Bike Show at Rushden Hall Park in Northants . A great venue and a great show with well over 400 cars and Bikes . It sold out for show car entries many weeks ago . Lots going on all day with music , craft stalls , beer tent etc , plus a Hawker Hurricane ply past . Loads of Joe Public visiting to and our Vettes drew plenty of attention and admiring comments . Several other Vettes there to but could never the owners to Press Gang into joining the club .

Took her out for an hour in the sunshine on Sunday, got home and decided to check the auto trans fluid, pulled the hood release and only the driver side popped up so I couldn't open the hood. Couple of hours later the hood is open, the cross cable had snapped, I rigged up a temporary method of popping the passenger side latch. New cable and clevis pins ordered, planning to fit it on Saturday ready for a run to the excellent NSRA Nationals on Sunday.

Fitting the new cable is a doddle, getting the hood open wasn't !!Good luck with the repair , at least you managed to get the hood open .

that is a real bummer James , after all the searching and deliberating you went through to achieve your ambition. How much sre they asking for as a premium? Have you exhausted every insurance company yet . Hopefully you will find someone more reasonably priced.
If you can pay over 10 months then it wont seem so bad and if you dont smoke or drink then you can maybe justify the expense if your hobby as smokers and drinkers have nothing to show after wasting their money , you have a great car and an appreciating asset. Dont give up on your dream too easily. Happy to start a members crowd fund with 20 quid to keep young blood in the vette scene , how about it fella’s ?
once we know premium figure we can see how many it would take, most of us are old duffers with a bit more disposable income than we had in our twenties .
