With the ever increasing 'dearth' of suitable 15" diameter tyres for our cars (except American branded and Chinese manufactured tyres) There are no European or Japanese 'performance' tyres available any more.......just commercial/van sized/rated tyres available.
For those who do chose to upgrade to larger diameter plain sidewall tyres (and don't scrape kerbs too often) there are dress-up kits that allow you multi-colour fill-in options for your tyre lettering.

One of the things I hate is dirty whitewalls or white letters on tyres. So easy to rectify with a Brillo pad. Yes, I’ve used the specialised cleaners but always found a good ole Brillo pad works best.
See many a spotless car at a show , lovely clean wheels, dirty letters or whitewalls.

Hi all. hope your all well. I have been lovin the Vette. I have never owned a car so long either. Been about 18 months i think:) And no intensions of selling it either, well why the hell would i :)

So as of since i have had it its been great. been on some great drives out, used it often as a daily. Even sat in traffic on way home from work, i love it :)

Check the DOT on the inside wall of the tyres Waynio it should be something like 37 16 which would be 37th week 2016. It's well documented on the net how bad it can damage these cars with a blow out. I second the use of Brillo Pads which you can get in bulk for pennies.

I can see this next part being as when i first got it. Which was to just put the heads back on the engine as thats all it needed. And that lead to a part engine rebuild, front suspension and steering rebuilt.

So since i resprayed it and had some fun the rear leaning in back D/S wheel is bugging me . I thought i would see about sorting it out. I hope a quick fix........Mmmm i would like a mono leaf still.............

So i have jacked up the rear end to look if i can see or feel the bushes have failed. So on inspection i thought that it was the inner strut link bush due to the way they sit both raised hanging or on its wheels.

Have you checked the rear camber angle adjusters ? They operate on a cam basis to adjust positive or negative camber and can work loose .View attachment 31949
I have had a go but tight as hell. so ill give a day or so of penetrant fluid and see if i can get them moving. The need to anyway so ill try that first, the cam is at the top so there is movement for adjustment. Just looked like the bush is worn due the angle of bolt sitting in the bush.

@Chuffer So i soaked the Strut camber bolts in penetrant to see if they will move. after a good deal of effort they did do. I havnt set the camber to the correct settings yet but they are NEG camber a slight bit on each. I will drive it around for a while and see how they go. As said i have new bushed to go in but still struggling with the fingers after an operation so dont want to get into it now. No rush.

You might find that the camber adjustment keeps slipping, I had a lot of trouble keeping the adjusters from moving. Could be why they were done up so tight.

Good to hear you managed to free them up and get some adjustment . A bit of negative camber is good for better handling . I need to adjust mine too as the passenger side rear has developed markedly more negative camber than the drivers side recently . It was my intention to do it a few weeks ago but I have spent all my time busting a gut to replace the front wheel bearings on my Jeep Grand Cherokee as the passenger side had developed a slight whine . It made sense to replace both but ended up having to replace both CV joints too as the passenger side one was so seized on the splines into the hub / bearing assembly that even heat and a 10 ton pressure hydraulic press wouldn`t budge it ! Ended up having the entire front suspension strut assembly off both sides . A bloody nightmare job !! So the Vette will be a nice winter job now its back in its rightful place in the workshop and the Jeep is back on the road now I`ve completed a full service , 16 spark plugs replaced and new brake pads .

I have been saying i am slowing down from cars due the struggles i have, i causes me stress trying to do stuff. So i decided to get back into fishing for a chill out and get away from it all. So i bought a cheap Mazda Bongo. old school again which i love. Easy to fix and maintain. I replaced all ARB and drop link bushes as they were knackered. So i cant get away from faffing with cars....yet. Need to convert it to a stop over camper now,. not full on. Just cant help myself.
Biggest job yet on the Bongo was the rear ARB bushes. all bush clamp studs snapped off so all had to be clean back drilled out and fitted nut and bolts. Repaint it in summer though. Cant be as bad as when i painted the Vette haha

Cars hey573053839_10240412685839563_9181374801627109082_n.jpg we love um :)
