George (like myself) was a member of one of the early custom/hot rod/yank clubs, Eastern Cruisers who used to meet in Romford. Didn't know George personally but recall his van being 'the' real deal back in the day and well respected. Unfortunately vans never 'did it' for me....

I am sorry but no car looks good with the wheels set in - even a 427 SC Cobra looses its attitude when sitting on inset wheels and the rest I refrain to comment as the owner may find me
I must admit I didn’t pay too much attention to the position of the wheels, Was to busy admiring the paintwork colour/ graphic and overall appearance of the car. I do agree that the wheels are too far in and would look much better if the were outside the arches. The rear ones especially. An easy fix.

Andy Kay was our van man, done quite a few over the years. He would get a van, spend god knows how much on it, finish it so it’s perfect, sell it and start again. Each to his own. He was a great guy, would help anybody out if he could.

One hopes that the C4 wheels are purely for jockying the car around in the garage and that his 18" or 20" wheels and tyres (note, 18" and 20" Barry) are stored away..........
In those days Ross without specialist suspension knowledge from guys like Greenwood or Gulstrand, the owner would possibly not have thought about keeping the rear wheels basically vertical, due to the increased tyre width and at 20" diameter, it would be like driving a car on the Casters of a Tesco Shopping Trolley immediately after driving over a greasy Weasel that had just eaten a belly full of Spam :)

Here’s a very nice looking C3. Superb paint, and a few tasteful mods. Saw this car in the flesh at a Daytona Turkey run years ago. Loved it.
I personally would have different wheels, but as we all know, wheels are such a personal choice.
I’ve always liked the C3 factory aluminium wheels. If there highly polished they look fantastic.

Hi he was the guy who had the van built and painted.
I bought the van from someone in bow east london used it as a daily driver .
Driving it back I ran out of fuel 3 miles from home .
Finally got it home done a wheel spin and busted the rear axle.
Jukebox - strange thing but did you see my RIP for Al Llewelyn of A & L Auto's - I'm fairly sure that George Smith worked at A & L Auto's in Romford and although the shop got credited by everyone including the magazines for many of the famous custom paint jobs of the day it may have been actually George who was responsible for much of the work.

Nicely done - could almost been have done within the last couple of years if not for the 'early' 90's three spoke billet wheels

What you are looking at above is a Greenwood Turbo GT, either a real one or out of the same mould from Ecklers under licence, you can see the shape better here
It was the last style before the Daytona Race Car

I guess the wheels would suggest this is perhaps not a stock C3.......

....it's not. Apparently everything underneath is C6!

Best of both worlds?

Yes, probably if you're Stateside based - here in UK can you imagine the potential confusion in a few years looking to source routine service parts if the current owner hasn't fully listed what components actually are from......

Another completely OTT corvette customise exercise, this time for the silver screen. But it was 1978, and the custom scene was in full swing. Wild was the name of the game, and Corvette Summer certainly was that.B1EC23E7-501F-4969-A38C-62DDF21B4D4F.jpeg

I think the Corvette Summer car was the one they converted to RHD because they wanted the 'star' to be able to chat to the ladies on the sidewalk without shouting across.. is that right?.. I dont know..
